Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity
Katherine Lasher joined Ohio State in August 2019 with a commitment to provide all students, employees and visitors an equitable, fair and just environment.
As associate vice president for the Office of Institutional Equity, she oversees Ohio State’s response to reports of sexual- and gender-based harassment and violence — and to reports of discrimination and harassment covered by Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other federal and state laws and university policies.
Lasher was most recently at Central Michigan University, where she was hired in 2012 as assistant director of the Office of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity. A year later, she became the senior leader of the office and also served as the university’s Title IX coordinator.
Among her accomplishments at CMU, Lasher developed and implemented the university’s first comprehensive sexual misconduct policy for students, faculty and staff, and directed the development of harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct awareness training programs.
Before she was hired by CMU, Lasher was an attorney with Graydon Head & Ritchey, LLP in Cincinnati. Before that was a judicial law clerk for the First District Court of Appeals in Ohio and the Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges.
A native of Cincinnati, she attended the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a Juris Doctor from the UC College of Law, a path she pursued so she could advocate for underserved and underprivileged populations.
