Dear Colleagues,
I write to inform you that Kellie Brennan, the university’s compliance director and Title IX coordinator, is leaving Ohio State effective June 19, 2020, for a position at the University of California, Berkeley.
Molly Peirano will serve as interim Title IX coordinator while continuing her duties as director of education and engagement in the Office of Institutional Equity. Molly started in Title IX in 2016 as a program coordinator and was named deputy Title IX coordinator two years later. She served as interim Title IX coordinator in spring 2019.
The Title IX coordinator oversees the university’s compliance with laws prohibiting sex-based discrimination in education programs that receive federal funding, as stipulated in the Title IX section of the Education Amendments of 1972. Since 2019, Title IX and other areas related to discrimination and harassment at Ohio State have been consolidated into the Office of Institutional Equity.
Kellie came to Ohio State in 2014 from Columbus State Community College, where she was the director of student conduct. At UC Berkeley, she will serve as executive director of civil rights and whistleblower compliance.
