The Title IX Coordinator or Civil Rights Intake Coordinator will conduct an individualized assessment and will review requests for supportive measures. Supportive measures are designed to restore or preserve equal access to the education program or activity without unreasonably burdening the other party, including measures designed to protect the safety of all parties or the recipient’s educational environment or deter sexual harassment. Supportive measures can be requested with or without engaging in a university resolution process. The Title IX Coordinator or Civil Rights Intake Coordinator may work with campus partners, like Human Resources or faculty members, to implement appropriate and reasonably available supportive measures.
Supportive measures may include, but are not limited to:
- Mutual no-contact directives;
- Referral to campus and community resources for advocacy, counseling, disability services, financial aid services, health services, immigration services, safety and transportation services;
- Extensions of deadlines or other course-related adjustments;
- Modification of work or class schedules;
- Change in work or housing locations;
- Consideration of leave requests;
- Assistance with academic petitions; and
- Removal of a program participant, supplier/contractor, volunteer, or visitor.
Requests for supportive measures can be made to the Office of Institutional Equity using the online reporting form at equity.osu.edu. Reports can also be made via email (equity@osu.edu) or by phone (614-247-5853).
Supportive measures can be made available regardless of whether an individual chooses to disclose the specifics of an incident to the university or law enforcement and come with no cost to the individual.
